Traditional and Complementary Medicine (GETAT)
Short answer: Traditional and complementary medicine (GETAT) covers methods such as ozone, cupping and mesotherapy that, under Turkish Ministry of Health regulations, may only be applied by certified physicians. They do not replace standard medical treatment and are considered complementary to it. The level of evidence differs by method and purpose.
Treatments
| Treatment | What is it? | Points to note |
|---|---|---|
| Ozone applications | Controlled use of a medical ozone–oxygen mixture | Not used in some blood disorders or in pregnancy; prior assessment needed |
| Cupping (hijama) | Dry or wet application creating negative pressure on the skin | Use of blood thinners and skin condition are checked |
| Mesotherapy | Micro-injection of a suitable product into the skin or scalp | Content and purpose vary by product |
Mesotherapy is also covered under Medical Aesthetics for skin and hair.
Certificates
Op. Dr. Salim Balin holds Ministry of Health–approved practice certificates for the GETAT treatments on this page. The documents will be shared on the HealthTürkiye & Credentials page.
How is the assessment done?
Before any application, health history, medicines and ongoing treatments are discussed. GETAT is not recommended in place of an ongoing treatment; do not stop your current treatment without consulting your doctor. The number and interval of sessions are planned individually.
