What is scar revision?

The aim is improvement in width, elevation, colour mismatch or tethering, not erasing a scar. Surgery leaves a new scar; keloids and hypertrophic scars require different planning.

Skar revizyonu nedir?

Who and when?

Cause, age, location, maturity and scarring tendency guide timing. New scars may be allowed to mature, while restricted movement may require earlier review. Infection or uncontrolled illness can delay treatment.

Treatment choices

Options may include silicone, injections, lasers or surgical revision. Surgery can remove and reorient scar tissue. Selection depends on scar type; no single technique suits every scar.

Recovery and possible problems

Dressings, suture review, sun protection and silicone care are individualised. Early swelling, bruising or tenderness may occur; scar maturation takes months. Infection, separation, pigmentation and recurrent abnormal scarring are possible.

Frequently asked questions

Will the scar disappear?

No. The aim is a less noticeable or more functional scar, not scar-free healing.

Is this skin cyst removal?

No. Scar revision addresses existing scar tissue.
